The 30 Day Method: An Overview

Tracy Anderson has been a ballet dancer and has published a fitness DVD to help at-home clients. In this book, she shares her unique secret on how to get a toned, small body, much like dancers and not like athletes, some of whom have more bulky, muscular bodies.

According to Anderson, the secret to developing a compact, slim body is not to work the main muscles, as suggested by most fitness experts. Following three decades of research, Anderson states that developing the accessory muscles instead of bulking up the major muscles is the key. When the smaller muscles are developed, they pull the bigger muscles in, so that these muscles are tightened and toned. There is no bulking, but toning and tightening take place.

To achieve a lean and wiry body, the author lays down a 30-Day program. In the first part of this program, the dieter has to carry out muscle design work – 10-day sequences that work different muscles at different intensities. The sequences are described with pictures.

Following this is the Cardio workouts element where the body is kept constantly on the move. Beginners are asked to step-touch in regular intervals. Advanced users must complete the dance moves and their 60 minute routine.

The last component is the meal plan. The book lays down detailed menus for 25 days, with recipes given for each of the meals. In the final 5 days, dieters will perform a system cleanse by eating purees, soups, puddings and so on.
