Having a baby is a wonderful thing. Babies are innocent, cute, cuddly, and express a love towards you that is pure and complete.
A baby comes into the world ready to learn from his or her parents and family. However, there are also a lot of things that you can learn from a baby, things that you may have forgotten, now that you’re an adult. Specifically, once a baby approaches its first birthday, he or she has certain habits which you should adopt, especially if you want to lose weight and get fitter and healthier. Want to know what those these habits are? Let’s see what your baby has to teach you:
1. Rising Up Again, No Matter How Many Times They Fall
When a baby first struggles to stand and then walk, it is bound to experience some nasty falls. For us, it almost seems comical because we know that little harm will befall our baby and because we feel that walking and standing is natural, something which we no longer perceive as involving a lot of effort.
To a 10 month old baby, however, these are very difficult tasks. He or she are trying something totally new, something which they haven’t succeeded at before… and it’s hard.
In fact, they fail to do so over and over again until they succeed. Much like some people fail to lose weight time and time again. However, a baby doesn’t grow depressed and doesn’t give it. It rises after each fall and tries again. It does so no matter how many failures it encounters. It simply doesn’t give up.
If you want to lose weight, get fit, and succeed in life, you need to adopt this attitude as well.
2. Being Open To New Things
One of the exciting things about babies is how eager they are to learn new things. They’re like a sponge that soaks in experience. They’re not held down by the past. They’re open to everything.
To change your life you need to be able to break away from your old habits. You need to be able to try out new things and be open to fresh ideas.
Don’t let former habits keep you back or slow you down. Be ready to start out anew, just like a baby does.
3. Eating when you hungry, Stopping When You’re Not
One of the reasons why so many people are overweight is that they eat not just to satisfy their natural hunger, but to get mental comfort from food. In some cases, the food is so good that it’s a joy to eat, even when the consequences may be dire.
Most of the babies I’ve met eat only when they’re hungry. They demand to be fed. However, when they’ve had their fill they push away the bottle. They don’t continue to stuff themselves.
This is something which more adults should do: eat when you’re hungry and stop eating when you’ve reached your fill. It will make weight loss much easier.
4. Getting Plenty of Sleep
We’re told that to lose weight we need to be active, yet sleep, where we are least active, is also important for weight loss. In fact, studies have shown that lack of sleep for just one or two nights already has a big effect on your appetite and energy.
Babies sleep a lot. They don’t let worry, work, or other things deprive them of the sleep they require. They respond to this need which many of us, as adults, are not giving enough attention to.
I would love to have more waking hours, but I know that not getting enough sleep will actually make my waking hours less productive and damage my long term health. In addition, it may make me gain weight.
So, act like a baby and sleep more.
5. Enlisting The Support Of Your Family
Going on a diet is hard. Changing your habits can be quite a challenge. To do so alone is simply foolish. You need the help and support of those closest to you. They will be glad to help. You simply need to ask. This may not be so easy for you, but a baby does it all the time.
Babies know that they can’t manage without the help of their family. They constantly demand attention and care. I don’t recommend that you start bawling like baby whenever you need anything, but you should ask for the help of your family members when you’re trying to go on a diet or follow a fitness regime. There will be hard moments. Your famile can help you overcome them. This is what they’re there for.
6. Moving a Lot
To lose weight you need to be active and babies are that way all the time. A 10 month old baby is learning how to move and is relishing the new freedom he or she are experiencing.
When they’re not sleeping or eating, 10-month old babies are constantly on the move, working those young muscles and burning energy.
Now, you don’t need to start crawling around or put weird stuff in your mouth. However, you do need to have an active mindset and to take advantage of any opportunity to move.
7. Just Smile and Laugh
Stress may lead to weight gain. It leads to emotional eating, bad digestion, sleep problems, and health issues. One of the best ways to reduce stress is to simply laugh more. Let go of cynicism, negativity, worries and just smile and laugh more… like a baby does.
Babies laugh at practically anything. It’s as if there’s a laughter bubbling inside of them at all times, ready to burst out and make everyone around them happier. You need to adopt this attitude: have a laughter constantly within you. You will be less stressed out and will drop weight much more easily.
The bottom line is that acting like a baby may not always be such a bad thing. In fact, it can help you lead a healthier life and lose weight too.
