It’s no secret that winter is a time when people tend to gain weight only to try to lose it again come spring. It’s a vicious circle, really, one which you often end up losing slowly.
The truth is that seasonal weight gain and weight loss isn’t good for long term weight maintenance. It can become quite hard to lose the pounds after you’ve gained them which is why you should try to avoid winter weight gain to being with.
In this article, I’ll share with you some tips on how to stop winter weight gain before it even happens. Prevention is the key to long term success so take action on these steps come this winter season.
Beware the Holiday Feasts
We all know how the holidays can make us fat. With all the great food, family feasts, and parties we get invited too, it’s no wonder why we feel the need to drop 10 pounds once Christmas is safely over.
Be eating according to the “holiday spirit” you can find yourself struggling to fit into your pants. Whether it’s Thanksgiving or Christmas food that you have a weakness for, don’t lose control during the holiday meals. You have to eat in moderation. One way to do so is to try every dish in small quantities. This way you won’t feel like you’re missing anything, but won’t have to stuff yourself silly to do so.
Avoid the gloom
Winter isn’t the most happy of seasons. The colder it gets, the more likely we all are to get a little down. This may lead you to crave food as a source of comfort.
The problem is that fatty and sugar rich foods are the customary choices for people who feel the need to lift their spirits which is why emotional eating is a sure way to gain weight. By keeping yourself happy you reduce the risk of falling for the temptation of these kind of foods. Have some comedy movies and sitcoms handy to watch and laugh with. Keep your home well lighted.
Don’t let winter drive you into being more alone and indoors. See more people. All of these tips will help you eat healthier this winter time.
Workout at Home
It’s no secret that being at home during the cold winter days totally rocks and going out, especially during a rain or snow storm isn’t the most fun thing you can come up with. This is why people tend to go out to the gym much less frequently than during the Spring or Summer months.
There is no excuse to not workout just because you don’t feel like going out to train. For one thing, you are going out to do shopping, visit friends, and to go to work, right? Why should you not go to the gym? No real reason.
In addition, there are plenty of ways to workout at home with or without equipment. For instance, the Bodyweight Blueprint For Fat Loss program shows you how to burn fat with no equipment. Turbulence Training is another program that includes a variety of great bodyweight exercises you can use.
You can also get some inexpensive pieces of fitness equipment to train with at home. A pair of dumbbells and a stability ball are all you need to get a pretty solid workout at home. It may not be as good as going to the gym, but it’s certainly better than nothing. You have to workout regularly to avoid the winter weight gain.
In Conclusion
There’s no reason why you can’t maintain your weight during the winter and holiday months. You can and should continue your regular active routine, make sure to eat sensibly, and not let the gloom of winter cause you to gain pounds.

Ok so what goes good with comedy movies besides ice cream and popcorn?
I think the whole keep yourself happy so you won’t emotionally eat is a good idea but if I’m gonna be watching comedy movies what are good things to snack on??
Haha, hey Joel, in my browser, there is a restaurant add with a picture of some delicious looking deep-fried wedges directly below the “Beware the Holiday Feasts” title. Just saying
