Today I have an interview with a doctor who teches people how to lose weight and train properly. We talk about some of the factors that lead to a successful weight loss process. I hope that you enjoy this interview.
Question: My guest today is Dr. Michael Allen, author of the popular Fat Loss Factor program. How are you doing these days, Michael?
MA (stands for Michael Allen): I’m doing fabulous! I love what I do, helping people to change their lives. It’s so amazing. Lori and I have also been enjoying time with the kids and teaching them the same health and diet principles that we live by.
Question: Let’s go over some background details, first. What can you tell us about your credentials and experience and how you got to the field of health, fitness, and fat loss?
MA: Well, I am a Chiropractic Physician with a certification in Wellness Practice. I’ve spent literally thousands of hours researching about health, wellness and, of course, weight loss.
Why weight loss? Because it is a rapid epidemic in our society that affects over 70% of our population. My entire family had issues with Obesity and diseases related to that such as diabetes, thyroid issues, heart issues, stomach issues, etc.
After watching how my family ate and didn’t exercise, I starting learning about dieting and exercise at a young age because I knew that I did not want to end up like they did. They were on tons of medication, obese, out of shape, depressed, etc. I felt very sorry for them and wished that I could help them. So, one thing led to another, and into the natural health and healing world I went.
Question: Let’s talk a bit about Fat Loss Factor. What made you create this program?
MA: Basically, I felt that most diets were missing a very crucial step for weight loss. That is getting rid of toxicities that were causing you to gain and store weight. So how do you fix that? By cleaning your liver and colon. It’s that simple. That should be your first step. Then, it should be find a diet that satisfies you. This is what fat loss factor is about.
Question: Is this program for men and women both?
MA: This program is designed for men and women both! The workouts, and the diet will give fantastic results to men and women if followed correctly.
Question: What kind of results and testimonials have you gotten? What can people expect to achieve with Fat Loss Factor?
MA: I’ve gotten some pretty amazing results. I’ll share this one with you, this is one of my favorites:

Question: The first phase of the plan includes 2 weeks of natural food eating. Why is this phase important and what are the benefits people may get from it?
MA: Basically, we start everyone out on a raw diet for 2 weeks. We do this to give the body a break from all the processed foods that are extrememly tough on your liver and that make you fat.
You see, if you take away the sources that make your body fat, you’ll automatically lose weight. This is exactly what happens on this 2 week natural foods diet. Your body can’t help but to lose weight. You also gain more energy and since you are getting more anti oxidants flooding your system, your body starts to look younger!
Question: Two of the principles in your program which caught my eye are the importance of drinking water and rest management. Why are these so important and how do they affect fat loss?
MA: Water is vital to lose weight. If you don’t have enough water, your body starts to swell which makes you look fat. Plus, not drinking enough water causes you to eat more food. Alot of people confuse hunger with thirst. Remember that water is calorie free and if you are over weight, you should be drinking at least 10 glasses a day to hydrate and flush the body.
Rest… If you aren’t getting enough sleep, this causes your stress hormones such as cortisol to increase. These are fat storing hormones that will hold onto body fat. By getting good rest, you lower your stress levels making it easier to lose fat.
Question: In your program you talk about the mental aspect of weight loss. What is the connection between your mindset and mood and the way you can lose or gain weight?
MA: When your mind is in a positive state, I believe that anything is possible. People with a good outlook on life have lower stress levels…. which lower stress hormones…. can you start to see a pattern here . Plus they never give up and as many food “traps” there are out there and people who try to give you delicious food (thank you grandma) you have to have a good strong mindset to not give in to temptation and if you do, which you will, then you need to be able to shake it off and jump back on the band wagon.
Question: What can you tell us about the workouts in your program? How much time do people need to spend in the gym each week and what sort of exercises do the workouts include?
MA: These workouts were designed with your metabolism in mind. They primarily consist of full body movements that will burn more calories. You can spend as little as 15 minutes a day or 1 hour a day for 3 to 5 days a week. Your choice. These exercise routines have been tested over and over again and have given results. If you stick with the plans, you will lose fat and gain fat burning muscle!
Question: Fat Loss Factor is a 12 weeks program. How easy it is to maintain the new weight after the 12 weeks are up? Do you touch on that in the program?
MA: Yes, great question. The last phase of fat loss factor is designed to give you a diet that you can stick to for the rest of your life that is comfortable. If you ever start to inch up again, you can just go through the first 2 phases again.
Question: Now that Fat Loss Factor is such a success, did you ever imagine that you’ll be able to reach so many people? How does it feel to know that thousands of people from around the world are using what you teach to change the way they look and feel?
MA: It feels amazing. I feel so blessed. I am able to reach more people than seeing them one on one. What I teach are easy to fix lifestyle changes that can be followed forever. And I believe that if adults learn these methods they can teach their children healthy diet and exercise habits.
