fun cardio workout

If you hate doing cardio because it’s boring and dull, know that things can be different. There are plenty of fun cardio workouts that you can do to lose weight, improve cardiovascular health and feel energized. Let’s see what they are…

Top Fun Cardio Workouts

1. Zumba

Zumba is a hit for a reason: it’s fun. The same goes for many other dance classes that employ rhythm rich music, total body movement, and a great deal of energy. When you do these classes, once you learn some of the moves, you hardly feel the time go buy or the sweat that’s poring out of you. However, you are burning calories at a very rapid pace as some of these classes can be rather intense.

2. Hooping

The Hula-Hoop was in style during the 1950s and virtually disappeared until it made a comeback a few years ago. This time, the object wasn’t just play, but also fitness. Hooping, as it’s now called, can produce a rather intense workout and it is certainly fun and never boring. Watch this video with Acefitness trainer Jessica Matthews as she explains more about hooping fitness:

3. Video Games

Video games still bring to mind the image of an overweight man sitting in his underwear on a couch with a glazed look in his eye, but the new generation of games is trying to provide a more wholesome experience. You now have dancing video games which require a great deal of dexterity and speed as well as all sorts of fitness oriented games that are some of the most fun cardio workouts you can do at home.

Video games aren’t just for kids. People of all ages can use them to have enjoyable workouts in the privacy of their own home.

4. Dancing

I’m not talking about dance classes like Zumba, but actual dancing. It can be at a club or a tango with your spouse. Either way, dancing is an excellent activity that allows you to get a workout without exercising. You’ll be having too much fun to even notice the fact that you’re burning extra calories and fat.

5. Ice Skating

Here in Amsterdam the canals sometime freeze over and the city turns into a giant rink. People of all ages put on their skates and enjoy the chance of gliding on ice. They don’t even notice how much they’re sweating underneath all those winter clothes. In warmer weather you will need to use artificial rinks, but regardless, this is pure fun. Just remember that falling is part of learning.

6. Playing Sports

We all have our favorite sport that we enjoy playing and there is no point in trying to rank one above the other. All I can say is that sports are an excellent way to burn calories and fat and improve coordination and fitness. I know people who can’t spend 30 minutes in a gym, but can play soccer for three hours straight. This is why doing what you love is the obvious choice to make.

7. Trampoline

Using a mini trampoline or a rebounder can be an excellent way to workout at home and a have a blast while you’re doing it. This is one of those things which many adults view as childish even though it’s not. It can be quite effective. Check out the video below for some ideas:

8. Kickboxing

Kickboxing aerobic classes are a big hit and rightfully so: they’re fun and very effective. I like this workout because it is intense, uses a lot of movement, works your entire body, includes bursting movements and is a lot of fun.

9. Jump Rope

This may not be everyone’s favorite, but it is mine. If you’re looking to do some home cardio, this is certainly a great choice. I have a rope which I got for about $9 and it has been serving me well for quite a while now. If you want to see some moves with the rope, check out the video below:

10. Anything With Company

If none of the other fun cardio exercises I shared with you seem like something you want to do, here’s a hint: just workout with someone you love. This is enough to make anything more fun.
