Today I want to make you laugh… but I also want to make you think.
I love parodies made about fitness products and health and nutrition ads because they actually shed light on a serious topic in a funny way and bring more attention to it. It’s one of the best ways to make people think about what’s marketed to them.
So, let’s see some examples of funny videos made about fitness products and other health issues.
Scooby’s Abduminator Parody
This is an amateurish parody but one of the best I’ve seen. It’s from Scooby who has a popular channel on Youtube in which he teaches bodybuilding. In this video, Scooby makes fun of an imaginary ab machine he calls the Abduminator. It’s very funny and it is the perfect example of a satire as it clearly shows how a lot of people are suckered into buying ab machines that don’t really burn belly fat.
Again, this video is not about a real product but it is clearly targeted at a whole range of products that are sold by people who prey on the common desire of people to get flat abs and their hope that this can be done with little effort or time investment.
SNL Guys Get Excited about the Shake Weight
In this clip by Saturday Night Live, the guy comedians team up to show their infantile excitement over the Shake Weight ad and the girls starring in it.
This clip is a bit naughty and may even be seen as crude by some of you but it is very funny:
Ellen Sits on the Hawaii Chair
This clip is even more hilarious than the first one. This is taken from the show Ellen and it shows the host and a member of the audience try out the Hawaii Chair. This is a product that looks like a chair but has a revolving seat which actually moves beneath you as you’re sitting on it.
The idea is that this moving seat forces you to constantly work your core muscles and this will somehow get you flat abs.
What I recommend is that you brace yourself before watching this clip because you may fall out of your chair from laughing too hard.
SNL on High Fructose Corn Syrup
In this video, we leave fitness products and talk about nutrition. This skit is a response to the recent ad of the Corn Refiners Association (the CRA) in which they try to change the poor image that high fructose corn syrup has today (and with good reason).
Since most of us can’t really challenge the claims made by the CRA, as we’re not professionals in nutrition, this parody goes a long way into clearing things up and may even help improve the health of thousands of people in America.
So, I hope that you enjoyed these videos and found them as hilarious as I did. However, I didn’t post these videos here just for the fun of it. There is a lesson to learn from these videos: don’t look for gimmicks or tricks or quick fix solutions. You need to put in a lot of work in order to lose weight and get in shape. You need to be willing to put in the work and you need to be patient in order to get results. You don’t want to watch a future fitness parody and feel that it is too close to home, do you?
So, here’s to getting real results the only way you can: nutrition and intense workouts. I will help you do just that.
