Get Rid of Ankle Fat

by Jonathan

woman with lovely anklesIt’s no secret that people are self-conscious of all sorts of body parts. Some hate their back fat, others worry about their pooch, and there are those who dislike their flabby arms. But some people have a less common body part they’re worried about: their ankles.

It’s true. A lot of people want to get rid of ankle fat and they want to do it fast. When they look at their feet they can’t help but feel bad about the way their ankles look. They want the shapely, thin ankles like those you see in the picture to your right. If you too want to have shapelier ankles, this article is for you.

I want to help you get the best and most beautiful ankles that you can ever have. Read the rest of this article to learn about all the tips you need to know in order to have the kind of ankles that look slim and gorgeous.

Is it really fat?

One of the things many people don’t realize is that they may not even need to lose ankle fat at all to make their ankles look slimmer. In fact, there is a good chance that it’s not really fat that’s making those ankles look swollen. It can be something else entirely: Water.

Yes, it is quite likely that what’s causing your ankles to appear puffy is water retention. Pure and simple. Water simply accumulates underneath your skin and pushes it outward, making it look bulgy and rounder. This is called water retention and it can happen in many body parts including your face and your abs.

The way to deal with water retention is to actually drink more water. It sounds strange, I know but when you don’t drink the amount of water you need each day, your body tends to hold unto the water it does have more tenaciously. In addition, a high sodium diet may also cause water retention so make sure you don’t overdo sodium.

So, before you try to get rid of ankle fat, make sure that you’re not retaining water.

The Surgical option

Some people who are desperate to get thinner ankles consider having liposuction to surgically remove the fat. This is a viable option and may yield good results. However, from the research I’ve done it seems that experts have conflicting views as to how effective such surgery can be and whether the risks are worth taking. The ankle is a delicate body part and so may not react well to surgery. If you do opt to have this kind of procedure, please choose a very good doctor to perform it.

Why You Can’t Lose Ankle Fat

The truth is that you can’t choose to burn ankle fat, you simply can’t. Your body will simply not cooperate. It turns out that we can’t really determine where our body burns fat from (there are some ways to do so, but the effects aren’t great). Whether we train one muscle group or another, it doesn’t matter. Our body will burn fat from wherever it wants to. This is called the myth of spot reduction and it is true for all of your body parts, not just your ankles. For instance, crunches won’t help you lose belly fat.

This means that I don’t have any exercises to get rid of ankle fat primarily. What I do advise is to do what you can to burn more body fat in general and your ankle fat will also melt away. To burn more fat you need to:

  1. Do high intensity interval training workouts.
  2. Do strength exercises.
  3. Follow a healthy and sensible diet plan. I recommend the Diet Solution Program by Isabel De Los Rios. If you want a more fitness oriented plan use the Xtreme Fat Loss Diet plan.

These steps will help you get lean all over.

In Conclusion

While I can’t offer any magical way to help you get rid of ankle fat, I hope that this article has pointed you in the right direction to get a leaner and healthier body. Remember, the key is overall fat loss.
