You are what you eat, so to be healthy you need to eat healthy food. We all know that. Yet, many of us don’t eat health food because of certain beliefs we have about it. These beliefs, or should I say myths, are part of what keeps some of us from eating better. This is a shame because it can so much easier to lose weight and be healthy when you eat good food.
Let’s go over some of the more common health food myths and blast them one by one. Then, you won’t have any excuse not to eat healthy.
It Costs a Lot
This is one of the biggest concerns regarding health food and it is also one of the most false ones. Healthy food doesn’t have to cost a lot. In fact, you may be able to save money by buying it.
For instance, what is cheaper, water or soda? What costs less, chocolate or fruit? There are more examples of this. The main thing is that when you buy processed food you pay extra for it and usually get a lot less of what you need and a lot of things that you don’t.
Try to buy fresh produce for a week and cook all your food yourself. It will will save you some money.
It Tastes Bland
Health food doesn’t have to be bland. It can be very good. I eat healthy and enjoy every meal. I like my own cooked food better than processed food.

It’s Hard to Get
Health food isn’t found just in special stores. It’s right there in your supermarket. You simply need to look for it. For instance, fruit is readily available at any market and veggies too. If you shop at the perimeter of the supermarket, you will find the healthy food, ready for you to enjoy.
Don’t believe that health food is limited to special berries or other exotic products. It is often the simple food which is the healthiest.
Takes a Lot of Time to Prepare
The length of time it takes to prepare a meal or a dish has little to do with how healthy it is. It’s true that if you buy ready-made meals that you just need to stick in the microwave that you will need less time than cooking requires.
However, this doesn’t mean that cooking needs to take long. The recipes in Metabolic Cooking, for instance, are pretty easy and quick to make. You can find plenty of healthy recipes online that can be done with little cooking experience and are excellent.
You Need To Know A Lot
You don’t need a lot of knowledge to find health food. In fact, the simpler it is the better it usually is. Food with lots of ingredients is likely heavily processed and may also include various chemicals. It’s better to stick to produce and food which has a low number of ingredients.
Here are some tips for healthy eating:
- Get your fat from olive oil, avocado, fish, nuts and seeds.
- Avoid corn, refined sugar and white flour.
- Eat whole eggs.
- Drink lots of water and green tea. Avoid alcohol and calorie rich beverages.
- Eat lots of fruit and veggies.
The main thing is that you need to have a healthy eating mindset in which you seek out healthy food. Once you get this mindset you will easily find ways to get healthy food for cheap and learn to cook it quickly. Then, you will find it easier to lose weight and be healthier.
