Instinct Diet

Dr Susan B Roberts, an internationally recognized nutritionist belonging to the Tufts University and professor of psychiatry, shows us how it is possible to tune our inherent food engines to select the right foods. In this way, we can enjoy enable permanent, healthy weight loss.

Dr Susan Roberts is a diet doctor who admits to diligently studying the “science of nutrition and weight loss for the last 20 years”. The instinct diet is the result of this study and is therefore based on impeccable research.

The diet identifies five inherent instincts which directly control our eating habits. By controlling these instincts, the author promises you that you can lose up to 15 pounds in 8 weeks.

The most important thing about this diet is the ‘I’ factor, in the sense that it deals with the every person’s hunger and cravings. When the ‘I’ factor is taken care of, eating becomes more relaxed and healthy.

To that end, the Instinct diet elaborates not just on how to eat but also what exactly to eat.

The diet is undertaken in three stages. The first stage lasts for two weeks and is a preparatory phase where you eat a number of hunger-suppressing foods (foods that contain more fiber and have low Glycemic Index). The second stage lasts for six weeks. A greater variety of foods is allowed. Good eating habits are taught during this phase. In the last and final stage, dieters are taught eating skills that will help them lose and maintain weight permanently.

Recommended food consumption is proportional to weight. Those who weigh less than 160 pounds may follow the 1,200 calorie plan. Those who weigh between 160-200 pounds may follow the 1,600 calorie plan and those weighing over 200 calories need to follow the 1,800 calorie plan.

To make it easy for dieters, the Instinct Diet plan also contains more than 100 recipes backed by complete nutritional information. Many of the recipes are delicious. Examples include Orange Crumbed French Toast, Watercress and Citrus Salad and Chocolate Bread Pudding.

The daily intake of calcium, fish oil supplements and multivitamins are recommended.
