Just Be Active

senior couple exercising in a park On this site I try to teach you the most efficient and effective ways to burn fat and get lean. I often refer to research and talk about advanced methods and programs which are designed to optimize your weight loss process. This post won’t be like that. On this post I want to talk about one simple principle which is more powerful than all the advanced and expert training and eating methods out there.

This one principle will help you lose weight, stay healthy, and feel better. In can be summed up in 3 words: Just Be Active.

That’s all. This is what I want you to take from this article, the need to be an active person and to lead an active lifestyle.

Being active is about more than just lifting weights or getting on a treadmill. It’s a whole way of life. I want you to become an activity seeker, someone who is always searching for new ways to become active.

Seek Activity and Destroy Fat

An activity seeker is always engaged in a “Seek and Destroy” mission. He or she seeks activity and destroys fat. Remember that you burn calories during any activity, even if it’s a mundane and easy one. Your goal should be to increase the amount of calories that you burn if you’re looking to burn more fat.

So, what does an activity seeker do?

A Seeker is always looking for ways to burn more calories. If someone needs to feed paper to the office printer, they get up from their desk and do it. If someone needs to collect the take out for lunch from the lobby of the company building, they do it (climbing the stairs on the way up). Seekers like to towel their dishes instead of letting them dry on their own and they enjoy walking as much as they can.

As you can see, there are activities which are part of a routine such as an evening walk, your weekly bowling game, or your regular gym workouts. However, an activity seeker always finds new ways to do a little more. And believe me, all these little things count and the calories they burn add up nicely.

I can drive to the supermarket near my home but I choose to walk. The reason is that this five minute walk helps me burn more calories. I choose to climb stairs instead of using the elevator for the same reason. I like to work with my hands, to essemble things, and I even like cleaning the house. Whenever I get lazy I remind myself that I’m an activity seeker and I follow through with the mission.

Active Hobbies

To increase the amount of activity in your life, you need the right hobbies. I have nothing against reading books (always have one open), watching movies, or going to the theater. All these are great. However, these are sedentary and will not result in a lot of burned calories.

You should take up something like dancing, golf, a weekly softball game, or some sort of craft. People don’t realize this but carpentary or gardening can be quite hard and while they’re not viewed as exercise, they do burn more calories than you would have done otherwise. Find one or two active hobbies and you will find it much easier to lose weight.

Final Note

Being active is not hard. You just need to seize small opportunities to be active and you will burn off more calories faster than you could have done otherwise. I urge you to become an activity seeker and live by this motto: Just Be Active.
