In this review, I’ll go over what the Metabolic Cooking program includes, how it works, and answer the question of whether or not it really delivers on its promises.
Who Are Dave Ruel and Karine Losier
Dave Ruel and Karine Losier are the co-authors of Metabolic Cooking. Known as the “Metabolic Cook” and the “Lean Kitchen Cook“, these two authors come from different fields and offer an intriguing partnership.
Dave Ruel is a former competitive bodybuilder who became famous when he authored a program on muscle building and fat loss nutrition. Part of that program is the foundation of the Metabolic Cooking, which focuses strictly on fat loss and not on muscle building.
Ruel surely knows nutrition. He has a good reputation and is considered an honest and respectable author and expert.
Karine Losier is Dave’s partner in life and in the Metabolic Cooking program. A cooking lover in her own right, Karine holds a Masters in Psychology so she brings her knowledge of the mental challenges of weight loss and combines it with Ruel’s knowledge of nutrition for a powerful combination.

What Is The Metabolic Cooking Program?
The Metabolic Cooking program has two main parts:
The first is the Fat Loss Optimizer guide provides general nutrition guidelines which show you how to maintain a healthy eating routine which promotes a high metabolism and fat loss.
These guidelines are simple to use because they use a Nutri-Profile system which makes everything very intuitive (more on that below).
The second part is the extensive collection of recipes and meal plans that make up the bulk of the program. This is the real strength of Metabolic Cooking, the way it makes it very easy to cook delicious, healthy, and low-cost meals that are good for weight loss.
The recipes are divided into a number of sections:
- Fish and seafood
- Chicken and Poultry
- Side dishes
Each of these recipe collections includes a variety of recipes to make sure that you have plenty of options when it comes to losing weight and getting lean.
A Look At The Recipes
Let’s talk a bit about the recipes in Metabolic Cooking.
It’s quite clear that there’s an emphasis on simplicity as far as these recipes go. Even people who aren’t used to cooking can quickly make these dishes.
The reason why these recipes help to promote fat loss is that they include ingredients which have been proven to boost metabolism. These include fat burning spices such as cinnamon, turmeric, and black pepper, and are often higher in protein and lower in empty carbs than what many people eat today.
The way these dishes are sweetened is also important. These recipes often use Stevia as a sweetener. Stevia is a natural sweetener which is considered to be much better for weight loss than sugar is.
The recipes in Metabolic Cooking are:

The Nutri-Profile System
As you can see in the recipe above, the letters P and C appear in the top right corner.
The P stands for Protein and the C stands for carbs. This is part of the Nutri-Profile system which makes it easy for you to combine recipes into a balanced and healthy meal.
On each of the recipes 4 letters may appear: P, C, F, V (F stands for fat and V for vegetables). In the nutritional guidelines, you learn how much of each nutrient you should have on each meal and snack so it’s easy to just pick out recipes you like, eat, have fun, and lose body fat.
Unlike other recipe programs, the Metabolic Nutri-Profile system, makes the entire program very simple and intuitive to use.

I believe that Metabolic Cooking is an excellent nutrition plan that makes it much easier to eat healthy and nutritious food that promotes a fast fat loss. You do need to do the cooking yourself and I feel that the role of protein powders could have been reduced, but the recipes aren’t hard to prepare and you can have a lot of fun creating your own meals.
