Models Diet

The Model Diet is a weight loss book without a plan. Danish author, David Nicosia Longhi, decided to combine his own knowledge of nutrition and weight loss with interviews of 15 models and some health and weight loss experts.

The idea is that models certainly know how to maintain a slim figure and so their methods can be used by anyon who wishes to lose weight.

The interviews cover many different topics associated with weight loss and the models discuss how they view each of these topics which include:

  • What they like to eat
  • How they view diet pills
  • How much water they drink
  • How much alcohol they drink (which tends to be a lot)
  • What their eating routine looks like
  • How often they exercise and how
  • And more

The questions are basically the same for each model and you can pretty much get the picture that most of them tend to eat a lot of vegetables, workout often and regularly, and drink a lot of water. Not the sort of tips that you wouldn’t be able to find at any second-rated magazine.

The interviews with health experts have a bit more depth, but again, this isn’t the kind of explosive or groundbreaking information you may expect from any weight loss program.

The book does dispel some of the common myths about model. More than anything, you will not find a model that starves herself just to be able to get into a tighter dress. Cynics may say that no one would have admitted such a thing, but I like to take this book at face value and I am hope that this will prevent young women from using extreme methods in the hope of looking like a model.

Pros and Cons of the Model Diet

Pros:

  • Does not encourage any starvation or extreme dieting
  • Includes interviews with people who are successful at maintaining appropriate weight
  • May help young women avoid dangerous eating disorders
  • Includes dietary and nutritional tips and advice

Cons:

  • A program which focuses on models and not on regular people
  • Does not have any detailed action steps or structured program
  • May encourage cosmetic surgery as part of your weight loss efforts

In conclusion

The Model Diet does have some merit. However, it is far from being complete or extensive enough for my taste. You may learn some basic truths and tips from the experiences of these models, but you’re not likely to be able to formulate these tips into any specific program.

I recommend using other, more structured programs such as the Truth About Abs program or the Every Other Day Diet to achieve a long term sustainable weight loss.
