Protein For Fat Loss Video Tip

One of the common questions people have regarding nutrition and fat loss is about protein. They don’t know how much they need to eat and what kind of protein is best for them.

I asked Dave Ruel, the Metabolic Cook, one of the leading nutrition experts I know for fat burning and muscle development to prepare a special video about protein and how it helps fat loss.

There are 3 reasons why Dave believes that protein is essential for fat loss:

1. Protein gives you a metabolism boost immediately after you consume it. This isn’t a huge boost but every little thing helps you when it comes to weight loss.

2. Protein helps you to prevent or slow down muscle breakdown. As the more muscle you have the higher your metabolism naturally is, preventing muscle breakdown is crucial for a fast fat loss.

3. Protein requires a lot of calories to be digested. It’s what’s known as a thermogenic nutrient. Your body simply uses more calories to process it than it needs to expand for other nutrients.

As for quantities, Dave recommends 15 grams of protein per meal for a rapid fat loss. Again, it’s important to get your protein from a variety of sources. Check out these fat burning recipes for some ideas on how to create high protein meals with little effort at home. All these recipes are taken from the Metabolic Cooking program which Dave wrote.

Get a variety of Protein

One of the tips Dave gives in the video is to get your protein from a variety of lean sources. Not all protein is made the same and each source provides other nutrients and benefits that your body can use. He mentions the following protein sources:

  • Elk
  • Venison
  • Fish
  • Chicken
  • Buffalo

A few more protein sources I recommend include:

  • Eggs
  • Nuts, almonds, and pistachios
  • Turkey
  • Ostrich
  • Beans
  • Chick peas
  • Quinoa
