Should You Have a Personal Fitness Trainer?

woman doing chest exercise with a personal trainer spotting her If you workout in a gym, you probably see people who always train accompanied by a personal fitness trainer. This trainer watches over their every move, tells them which exercises to do, and makes sure they get a good workout each and every time.

Having a fitness trainer can be a good thing. Naturally, this kind of personal service costs money and the expense can be hundreds of dollars each month, or even more depending on who the trainer is.

Let’s see how a personal gym trainer can help you achieve your fat loss and fitness goals and whether you really need one. Here are the reasons why a fitness trainer can be good for you:

1. Actually Getting You To Workout More

For many people, one of the biggest challenges of working out is actually going to the gym in the first place. It’s so easy to make excuses and stay at home.

Having a personal trainer will get you to the gym for every session for one simple reason: you’re paying for it whether you go or not. Once you set a date for the workout, there’s no bailing out of one. No one wants to feel like they’re paying for nothing, so this is a sure way to get you to take action.

Naturally, if you’re already motivated and never miss a workout, this isn’t such a big deal.

2. Keep you isolated from time-wasting socializing at the gym

One of the major gym training mistakes that I see people make is over-socializing. They simply talk too much, turning the gym into a place to meet and chat with people rather then focusing on their workouts.

Having a personal trainer by your side is a sure way to cut down the idle chit-chat to a minimum. A good trainer will keep you focused on your workout and people are less inclined to disturb you during a paid for session. This, in itself, can make your workout much more effective.

3. Correct Your Form

It’s one thing to actually exercise, it’s quite another to perform the exercises right. Often, you may think you’re working out with perfect form when you’re not. Having a fitness trainer watching over you is the best way to make sure that you’re working out correctly. This can improve results, reduce risk of injury, and lead to a more enjoyable workout experience. For me, this is the biggest benefit having a fitness trainer provides.

4. Push yourself harder

Going to the gym is just the first place in getting an excellent workout. You need to be motivated to push yourself hard on each and every workout. While you may find yourself looking for any excuse to workout less intensively on any given workout, it’s likely that your trainer won’t be as lenient. In fact, I hope that he or she are not the sort to be quickly convinced or placated. I want you to workout hard each time you’re at the gym. This is the only way to achieve the best fat loss and fitness results.

5. Find new and exciting exercises and Workouts

Most gym trainers know more exercises and workout combos that you or I do. This is their life and their business. I often learn new tricks and exercises by just watching the workouts other people do with their trainers. These new exercises are an excellent way to keep things interesting and to challenge the body in new ways. A good trainer will always keep you guessing and things will not get boring.

The Bottom Line

Does all this mean that you simple got to have a personal trainer? Know, you can do all of these things yourself if you put your mind to it. However, having a trainer can certainly help you get better and faster results.

The major downside is the cost. Good trainers cost a sizeable amount of money. They can be worth it but you need to make sure you can afford their services. This is a decision only you can make.
