It’s seems like there’s a trend among fitness trainers and writers to make fat loss much more complicated than it really is or should be. While some of the more complex methods have merit, weight loss can be quite simple. This is why I want to present before you the S.I.M.P.L.E. method that I’ve come up with. Once you have all these things in place weight loss becomes… simple.
The S.I.M.P.L.E. Method To Long Term Fat Loss
S is For Strength Training
In any fitness plan, strength training must play a key role. Not only does strength training directly cause quick fat loss, it also contributes to your long term weight loss efforts indirectly. Lifting weights and building muscles helps to boost your metabolism which increases the rate in which your body burns off calories.
This is true for both men and women. The notion that women shouldn’t lift weights or stick to light ones is false. Women should train more like men do and do hard strength workouts. It’s necessary to have a toned and fit body.
I is for Interval Training
Doing cardio workouts is also a great way to lose weight. I burned off many pounds by running a few times each week and I know other people who got fantastic results by walking. However, if you’re looking for the most efficient way to lose weight with cardio, interval training is it.
High intensity interval training has been shown to be a more time-efficient way to burn off body fat than traditional cardio. Cardio is good for you and will help you lose weight regardless of how you do it. However, interval training simply works faster because it is more intense and it’s metabolically positive (meaning that it helps to get your metabolism higher).
How does interval training work? It’s simple: instead of sticking to the same pace throughout your cardio session, you change your intensity at regular intervals, moving from high intensity to a low-medium one and back again. So, you can sprint for 30 seconds, jog for 60, sprint for another 30, walk for 60, and so on. You will find that this is a better and harder workout than traditional cardio is.
M Is For Motivation
Even though weight loss may be simple, it is not easy. Whether you’re trying to lose 10 pounds or 50, you’re going to face some hurdles and challenges along the way. Without begin motivated, you have no chance to succeed.
It’s not enough to want to have something. You need to be willing to make sacrifices in order to achieve it. Unless you’re ready to change the way you lead your life, you cannot hope to improve your body and your health. Unless you’re motivated, you won’t be willing to make these changes.
Motivation is something that can be cultivated. It’s not something that you’re born with. Some people lose weight for themselves. Others do it for their family. Some do it for their health and others for their career. You need to find the deeper reason for why you want to shed weight. Once you have that reason, you have the source from which to draw motivation and strength for the entire weight loss process.
P is For Patience
I don’t believe in quick fixes and neither should you. They are either short-term solutions that may backfire before long or simply useless. Some of them, such as the General Motors diet or the Israeli Army diet are just ridiculous and may even be nutritionally unhealthy.
You need to have patience and accept the fact that the road to your optimal body may not be short. Change your goals from perfection to improvement. As long as you’re improving you should be satisfied. So, don’t try crazy things which are promoted with insane promises. Have patience.
L Is For Lifestyle
While diet and fitness are the two main components of a successful weight loss process, a healthy lifestyle includes other elements which are also important.
For instance, did you know that you need to sleep sufficiently to lose weight? Research has shown that lack of sleep for even a single night can boost your appetite and make it harder to shed weight.
Stress is another example. People who are under great stress find it hard to control their eating and their body may process and store fat in a different way than calmer people do.
A balanced and healthy lifestyle is crucial for weight loss. Dieting and working out is simply not enough.
E Is For Eating
Finally, we come to eating. No one can lose weight unless they have a good diet program and follow it correctly. Your nutrition is the most important fat loss factor there is, so you need to take special care to make sure it is good.
A healthy nutrition has many elements and I won’t go into them here. What I will say is that you need to eat good, whole, and fresh food and you need to control your calories. As long as you stick to high quality food and eat in moderation, you should be fine.
Whenever you think that weight loss is hard, remember the S.I.M.P.L.E. weight loss method. This is all you really need in order to lose weight.
