I first learned about Squires Fitness when I received an email from Jason Squires, the creator of the plan. He asked me whether I’d be willing to review the program and set me up with an account so I could tell you of my own experience with this plan.
So, if you want to get a sneak peak into this program, read on…
What is Squires Fitness
Squires Fitness is an online 12 week fitness and nutrition plan which is run by Jason Squires, a fitness trainer from Britain. This is a program which combines pre-made material and personalized modules.
Personalized Modules
Most of the programs I come across are made up of ebooks or videos which have been made for all people in general. You buy a plan which wasn’t made specifically for you.
This isn’t always bad, and it does allow you to buy programs at an affordable price, but if you want a plan which has you and you alone in mind, you may find that the personalized approach in Squires Fitness is more to your liking.
When you first log in to your account, you’re asked a variety of questions. These include your current weight, age, gender, the number of times you workout and where you do so (at home or at the gym), and what your goals are.
You’re not limited to weight loss with this plan. You can write that you want to build muscles in any specific body part or to combine fat loss and muscle toning.
You also need to submit your current eating habits and regular meals which you normally have. All this information will be taken into account to create your personalized plan.
There are various tools online which create a “personalized” plan automatically, according to some pre-designed format. With Squires Fitness you actually have a person go over your information and hand-craft a plan for you.
Workout Plan
In my case, I have been assigned a trainer named Darren, and he has provided me with a workout plan for the first 3 weeks of the program, along with a welcome letter which explains how this plan corresponds to my goals and why it is structured as it is.
Here is an image of my welcome letter:
As you can see, while the first part of the letter may be generic, in the final paragraphs Darren explains why he created this workout plan for me. As I stated in my goals that I want to build upper body strength and muscle mass, he focuses more on that.
You can see my personalized 3 times a week fitness plan for weeks 1 – 3 here:
Each of the strength exercises is shown in a video so you can learn the correct form easily.
Two notes on this plan:
1. This is a personalized weight loss plan which was made out for me. When you use Squires Fitness, you will get a different plan which is tailored for you.
2. This plan seems a bit easy for me at the moment. I should have made it clear that I’m more advanced. The future workout plans for weeks 4 – 12 are supposed to be harder.
What’s good is that I can email Darren and ask him to make alterations or answer questions.
Nutrition
Among the details I submitted when I first logged in to SquiresFitness were my eating habits. I was given an assessment of my current habits with some suggestions for modifications based on my goals. For instance, it was suggested that I increase my protein consumption and I was offered various food alternatives to increase variety in my meals.
All this was done very nicely and very politely. In some plans it feels like you’re given orders. Here it was done in a friendly way. I liked it.
What I like less is that there is no easy way to know how many calories I am consuming. I was given a suggested calorie total to adhere to but I need to figure out how many calories I am eating by myself. This could have been improved upon.
You also receive a guide which explains healthy nutrition for you. This isn’t personalized as it’s general information which is considered true for everyone.
Motivation
There is an extensive section on motivation in Squires Fitness which may help you stick to your current plan for the full 12 weeks. This section includes recordings which talk about various motivation techniques such as affirmations, visualization, utilizing external support, the AVES method, etc. If you suffer from lack of motivation, you may find this section useful.
Cost
The total cost of this 12 week plan is just under $200. This is more expensive than other fitness plans but it is cheaper than hiring a trainer yourself. As you get dedicated support here, it may indeed be worth it.
Note: The plan is marketed with a refund option if you’re not satisfied. However, reading the terms of service shows that you’re eligible for a refund only if you followed the plan fully. I don’t like this. The refund should be without terms.
Pros and Cons of SquiresFitness
Pros:
- Personalized plan which takes your goals and your current habits into consideration.
- A real person creates your plan and is ready to assist you.
- You have a detailed motivation section.
Cons:
- More expensive than most online plans – However, it does offer a more personal service.
- The guarantee has some terms to it.
- The diet section is not as extensive as it should be.
In Conclusion
Can you get results with SquiresFitness? I’m sure you can. This service offers you a plan which is made up just for you. You also have access to your own trainer to ask questions and get answers.
The nutrition section should be improved upon and I don’t like the caveat on the refund option. Other than that, this seems a plan which is worth considering if you’re looking for a plan with access to a trainer, without having to pay for one.
