4 Things That Make Your Body Fat And Your Wallet Thin

cartoon of man with empty pockets There are some things in life which you want to be thin, primarily your body, and there are things which you want to be fat, one of them being your wallet.

The sad reality is that there are some things which harm you on both fronts. They make your body fat and your wallet thin. I narrowed the list of these offensive things down to 4 which I’ll share with you in this post.

Here are 4 body fattening, wallet thinning things you need to watch out for:

1. Eating out

I know that eating at restaurants can be fun, but you may be asking for trouble if you do this often. The reality is that restaurant owners are mostly interested in serving tasty food and they may use any ingredient to make their dishes more delicious. This is why you can find a lot of high fat, high salt, sauce rich foods in many restaurants.

Unless you go to health restaurants (and sometimes even if you go to them as well), you are giving up control over the food that you eat and may be settling for some high calorie, fatty meals which are usually not right for weight loss.

While I am in favor of indulging yourself every once in a while with cheat meals, making a habit out of eating out can be fattening. As you’re paying for the privilege, the only thing sure to get a diet is your bank account’s balance. So, eating out is certainly an expensive habit which may be fattening as well.

2.  Useless Fitness Machines

I have a firm dislike of the kind of fitness machines and products sold on late night TV or on shopping channel’s infomercials. While there are products there that have merit, I find that most of these products are overpriced, oversold, and deliver very little of what they promise.

While using such a product is unlikely to actually make you fat, it may make it more difficult to lose weight in an indirect fashion. This happens for two reasons:

1. You get discouraged when these machines fail to deliver results. It is much easier to blame yourself than it is to place blame on any product you’ve bought. This is especially true if you’ve failed to lose weight before. This may reduce your motivation and make you feel like you simply can’t lose weight no matter what.

2. The more you use the useless machine that you bought, the less time you have to do real, fat burning exercises and workouts. You’re not doing what you need in order to burn fat.

As these products often cost a good deal of money, you may find that you’re getting financially thinner, but physically fatter when you have them.

3. Pre-Made Food

I know that you’re busy and that cooking takes a lot of time which you feel you don’t have. This is why so many of us buy pre-made food these days.

The supermarkets are filled with all sorts of food items that require nothing but heating to prepare. The problem is that many of these products are filled with preservatives to give them a longer shelf-lift and salt and fat to add to their taste.

Often, these are not healthy choices for you. You may be ruining your diet if you eat too much of them. These may often cost more than fresh produce, so you’re not getting such a bargain after all.

4. High Calorie Drinks and Alcohol

Have you ever wondered how many calories there are in coffee or juice or alcoholic beverages? You may be shocked to find that your favorite coffee shop may be serving you hundreds of calories in each cup. You may also be unaware that alcohol in all its forms is seriously detrimental to fat loss.

All the high calorie drinks and alcoholic beverages you like so much aren’t just costing you money, but also making it harder to lose body fat. In fact, they may actually make you gain fat.

Bottom Line

Make sure that you’re not paying through the nose to add fat to your hips or abs. Reduce consumption of alcohol, high calorie drinks, and pre-made food. Eat out less often and do your research when shopping fitness products. If you do that then you have a greater chance of getting thin and keeping your wallet fat.
