Why Am I Fat?

obese woman There’s no doubt that trying to lose weight can be quite frustrating. Often, it is unclear how you got overweight in the first place. Asking yourself: “why am I fat?” is a common question that millions of people ask themselves.

While I can’t give you a personal analysis in this article, as each person is different from the other, allow me to share with you some common reasons that may explain why you are fat. I hope that you’ll be able to relate to some of these reasons and take action to eliminate them from your life.


1. You’re eating too much without even knowing it

I call this “food blindness” and it’s no laughing matter. A lot of people I know, and you may know some too, eat without even noticing it. They sit in front of the TV and their hand is constantly inside a bowl of chips or pretzels or holding a can of beer. They don’t even register that they’re putting hundreds of extra calories each day into their body.

While most people do count breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you may lose track of all the snacks you’re eating throughout the day. All this food can add up to quite a lot and be the reason while you are still fat.


2. You drink too many calories

One of the biggest calorie traps there are drinks. The amount of calories that people drink on a daily basis can be astounding. Sugar rich sodas, juices, and especially alcohol, are all calorie rich and can ruin any weight loss diet plan that you may be on. The problem with drinks is that while they can be full of calories they don’t fill you up as solid foods do. Your body hardly registers all the calories that you’ve put into it. But trust me, your hips, abs, and thighs will notice it as you start packing on fat there.

I recommend that you cut down on drinks and go with water and tea for the most part. If you do want to drink sodas and juices and alcohol, do it in moderation.


3. You’re not active enough

There’s no doubt that being active is important for maintaining your weight and not getting fat. If you’re wondering why you are fat, you should take a good hard look at your life and see whether you’re the active sort or the sedentary sort. Do you spend a lot of hours sitting down and not enough time being active?

It’s time to change things up and to increase your activity level. Being active is about more than just working out a few times a week at the gym. It’s about playing with your kids, going out for walks, doing stretching at home, and a million other small activities throughout the day. For instance, do you take the elevator even when you’re only going up one flight or two? Why not take the stairs? It’s a very short climb and you will be burning extra calories with every step.

4. You’re eating the wrong food

Every day, the average human being is exposed to thousands of advertising messages. Many of these messages are for food items. A lot of the food advertising we see portrays a particular product as healthy and good for weight loss. More often then not, these advertisements are not 100% accurate or truthful. Some foods that we’ve been led to believe are good for us are the very cause of why so many people today are overweight.

The tragedy is that you may be trying your best to burn fat. You may think that you’re eating all the right foods when the truth is that you’re actively contributing to your expanding waistline. The key for this is proper education, knowing the real good foods that help you burn fat and get lean. 5. You’ve just been unlucky
