The 24/7 Fat Loss plan is nutrition and fitness plan which combines advanced workouts with a nutrient timed meal plan which was designed to produce an accelerated fat loss.
The name of the program, which is somewhat pretentious, signifies the purpose of the plan: to create an environment in which your body becomes a fast fat burning machine which is capable of shedding fat all through the day at a rapid pace.
In this review I’ll go over the details of this plan including:
- The workout schedule of the 24/7 Fat Loss plan.
- The types of workouts involved.
- The sort of meals that you can have.
- The nutrition and meal schedule that you can expect.
- Pros and cons of the system.
- Who the authors are.
I want to help you see whether this program is indeed right for you. I hope that this review will answer any questions that you may have. In case it doesn’t, simply leave a comment at the end of it, and I’ll answer your questions there.
Who Are Joel Marion and Craig Ballantyne, Creators of 24/7 Fat Loss
Before I get into the details of the program itself, let me say a few words about the two authors.
Both Craig Ballantyne and Joel Marion are experts that I’ve been following for quite some time. I’ve used plans by both of them throughout my life and have learned a lot from each of them.
Craig Ballantyne is a well known fitness trainer and author. He is the creator of the Turbulence Training fitness plan, a contributor to Men’s Health Magazine and other publications.
He also certifies other physical trainers and acts as a mentor to many aspiring authors. For several years now, he has been one of the leading fitness experts online and his workouts have been used by thousands of men and women throughout the world.
Craig is one of the people I turn to when I want to learn about new ideas for workouts and also for motivation. As you can see from the picture to the right (with his dog, Bally), Craig is also in pretty awesome shape.
The other author of the 24-7 Fat Loss plan is Joel Marion who is one of the most influential nutrition and fitness experts online today.
Joel is a sports nutritionist, personal trainer, best-selling author and writer whose work has appeared in numerous magazines such as Self, T-Nation, Woman’s Day, Oxygen, and others.
One of Joel’s specialties is the use of Cheat Days in his nutrition plan, as he did with his popular Cheat Your Way Thin program. He is an expert in timing nutrition around workouts to create a fast fat loss.
Joel Marion’s programs have been used by tens of thousands of people from many countries.
Why I’m Intrigued
When either of these two guys writes or publishes something, I’m interested. In the 24/7 Fat Loss plan, they join together for the first time. This makes me intrigued because it seems like a powerful combination: Craig is an expert in short and effective workouts and Joel is a master at nutrition and meal timing. Both of these qualities are evident in this plan.
24/7 Fat Loss Workouts
24/7 Fat Loss comes with an 8 week training manual. This 8 week period is divided into a number of phases with progressing intensity. During each week, you will have a workout schedule that looks like this:
- Metabolic Resistance Training workout (strength workout) A
- Interval training workout A
- Metabolic Resistance Training workout A
- Interval training workout A
- Metabolic Resistance Training workout C
- 60 minutes low-medium intensity cardio workout such as walking or bike riding.
- 30 minutes of low-medium intensity cardio.
The Metabolic Resistance Training workouts are made up of a number of medium strength circuits: 3-4 exercises done back to back. You will need dumbbells and a stability ball to do these, although you should be able to find bodyweight alternatives. These are short, but challenging workouts. The idea is to create an after-burn effect in which your body continues to burn calories at a rapid pace for a long time after your workout has been completed.
As your muscles need to rest between each strength session, you engage in interval training in order to increase your calorie burn and to produce an even faster fat loss. These workouts include 10 or so intervals in which you switch from high intensity cardio bursts to low intensity ones. The result is a workout that trains you through a range of intensities and results in a faster fat loss. This is also one of Craig Ballantyne’s specialties.
The low intensity workout days (6,7) are really resting days. However, you want to be active daily and this kind of low intensity cardio can help to relieve muscle tension.
These workouts are designed to create a high metabolism which burns fat all the time… just what the name of the 24/7 Fat Loss plan implies.
There are two sorts of diet days on this program: workout days and non-workout days. The workout days are those in which you do a metabolic resistance training workout.
Each day you eat 5 meals that you can spread throughout the day. Each meal falls into one of two categories:
- P+F – Meaning protein and fat. These are meals with very little carbs.
- P+C – Meaning protein and carbs with very little fat.
On workout days you have 3 P+C Meals (approx 50% carbs), followed by 2 P+F Meals (approx 50% fat). On non-workout days you have 5 P+F meals. In addition, you also have one fast day each week (on a non-workout day) in which you eat very little, though you can drink, and one cheat day in which you can intentionally overeat on “non-dietary” things. The weekly cheat day allows you to have fun with your food. The fast day allows you to create a bigger calorie deficit.
As you can see, there is a system of nutrient timing which fits specific nutrients with your workouts. You get recipes of such meals with the program so you don’t need to think too much.
The result of this is a synergistic system that produces a very fast fat loss.
