When you got to a gym you’re surrounded by fitness products that may cost hundreds of dollars a piece. You may also see infomercials for expensive products that are portrayed as the next best thing in fitness and fat loss.
The truth is that you don’t need to break the bank to have quality equipment which you can use to workout at home. In this post I want to share with you 7 awesome fitness products that you can get for under $50 each. I will also share one surprising bonus tool at the end.
You don’t have to get all these products, but having some of them will help you get in better shape fast. Here are the Glorious 7 (don’t know why I had to give them this title, but it seemed cool).
1. Iron Gym Pull Up Bar
One of the big problems with home workouts is how to work your back muscles. You can do back rows with dumbbells but nothing beats pull ups for an ultimate back workout.
The Iron Gym is a cost effective way to train your back muscles. It sells for just under $30. It hangs on your door (check the specs to make sure it fits), it’s light weight, and it has great reviews from the many people who use it. You can use a variety of grips with this product to train your back and biceps from multiple angles.
This is a great product to have at home and yes, women can use it too. Women can do pull ups. It may take a while to build your upper body strength but it’s worth it.
2. Jump Rope
One of the best ways to get a fast cardio workout is to use a jump rope. You can use it at home (but not on carpets) or at a nearby park.
You cannot believe how quickly you can build up a good sweat by jumping rope. It is a fantastic way to burn calories and tone your lower body.
The Vaelo Jump Rope that you see in the picture costs under $5 on Amazon and is a great addition to your home fitness products collection.
3. Resistance Bands Set
One of the ways in which you can train at home for cheap is to use workout bands. I like bands because they take up little space, they’re easy to store, and you can take them with you when you travel.
This set has 5 different workout bands ranging in resistance from 2 lbs to 30 lbs. So, it’s not a huge resistance at the top but it does give you a wide range of options to work with in different exercises.
The set also comes with a door anchor and ankle straps so you can use the bands to do a variety of exercises for your upper and lower body.
4. 40 Lbs Dumbbell Set
Dumbbells are a fitness staple. The problem is that you need a variety of weights for different exercises and these take up a lot of room and you need to pay for each dumbbell that you purchase.
One way to solve this is to buy this dumbbell set for under $50 (at the time I’m writing). This set enables you to add more plates to your dumbbell for a maximum of 40 lbs. This may not be enough to develop big muscles but it is certainly enough for most people and for most exercises. For women, this kind of weight range should be quite sufficient.
This set saves you money on all the dumbbells you would have had to buy as you build your strength and it also saves you a lot of room because you have the box for the plates and only one pair of dumbbells to store. At this price, it is a very good product.
5. F1080 High Step
This step is both affordable and versatile. You have 4 different levels which you can adjust to perform a variety of strength and jumping exercises. Step exercises are an excellent way to tone and strengthen your legs.
You can do squats, lunges, aerobics, and many other exercises and workouts with this step. Because it’s so easy to adjust the height, you can gradually build your stamina and strength and create more intense workouts as time goes by.
6. Exercise Wheel
I wasn’t sure whether to include this exercise wheel in this list. It certainly fits the bill as it costs under $50. However, this is a more advances fitness tool than the others mentioned in this post.
An exercise wheel, also known as an ab wheel, allows you to do intense abdominal workouts. The problem is that for many people this is a difficult exercise and one which may currently be beyond their present abilities. If this is the case for you know that you’re in good company. You can gradually build your strength with other products until you’re able to use the exercise wheel.
Once you start using it, you’ll find that you’re able to take your abdominal workouts up a notch or two. For this price, this Duo Exercise Wheel is very much worth it.
7. Definity Push Up
If you’re looking to work on your chest muscles at home, these push ups handles will serve you well. By elevating your upper body a bit, you’re able to do deeper push-ups, extending your range of motion and placing more stimulation on your pectoral muscles.
The only problem I had with this product is that the foam on the handles started to come apart after a while. So, make sure to not place your feet on it and be aware that it may not last for too long.
Bonus Fitness Tool – Your Body
Now that you know how many options you have to train at home for cheap, you should remember that you also have a free way to do so. You already possess an awesome workout tool, your body.
Your body is a weight in itself and you can use it to lose fat and build strength with no other equipment. This is why I love bodyweight exercises: you can do them everywhere for free. If you’re looking for a way to learn how to do powerful bodyweight exercises, check out this post: Shapeshifter Body Redesign review.
I hope that you now know how you can get in shape without dipping into your kid’s college fund. One more excuse to not workout today has been busted. It’s time to get going and start getting in shape today.
