One question I’ve been asked recently regarding Joel Marion’s Extreme Fat Loss Diet is how it differs from the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet plan that’s been around for years. I was actually surprised be be asked this as the two plans are not really similar at all. However, as this question seems to interest many people a comparison is in order.
In this article I want to discuss the differences between the two plans and I hope that you will also see how very different they are from one another:
One point of difference between these two plans is the way in which they deal with your nutrition. Fat Loss 4 Idiots offers a menu generating software which provides you with your own menu to follow. This is a set menu. You can change the menu each cycle, but it is not recommended to do so within the cycle you’re on. Each cycle lasts for 11 days and you do have a choice of food at the beginning of each.
Xtreme Fat Loss Diet has a more generalized eating plan. You have more variety and freedom. You need to stay within the dietary guidelines. That’s all you need to do.
A set menu is not such a bad thing as it takes all the guesswork out of the diet, but you do pay for it in less freedom. So, each plan has its own advantages here.
I believe that the reason why people tend to think these two plans are similar is due to the cheat days which these two plans use.
It’s true that both of these plan make use of cheating days (in which you can eat practically anything you want in moderation) in order to help you avoid the metabolic slowdown which is so common with some weight loss plans.
Metabolic slowdown occurs when your body begins to believe that you’re short on food, something that occurs naturally when you’re dieting. The slower your metabolism gets the harder it is for you to continue shedding weight.
Cheating helps as it “tricks” the body into believing that you’re not really dieting so it doesn’t slow your metabolism down.
You do need to do cheating in a smart way and part of an overall method for it to work, but both these plans use it successfully, but very differently.
In the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet, you get 3 cheating days every 11 days. You follow the diet’s menu for 11 days and then you can eat what you like for 3 days.
In the Xtreme Fat Loss Diet, you get one cheat day every 5 days. In addition, you need to workout in a specific way during the cheat day to make the most of it.
Fat Loss For Idiots is a nutrition based program. It works because of how you eat. Although the diet advocates doing mild exercise such as taking an evening walk every once in a while, working out is not a main aspect of this program.
On the other hand, Extreme Fat Loss Diet, has a massive portion of workouts. Without these workouts this program won’t work at all. If you’re not ready to workout very hard, then this program is not for you at all.
XFLD is based on doing intense, total body workouts that are geared for maximal calorie burning. The idea is to enhance your calorie deficit to accelerate fat loss as much as possible during the short period of this program.
Goals and results
If all you’re interested in is to shed some weight, then either of these diets may work. You may even shed weight faster with Fat Loss 4 Idiots. However, it is unclear how much of this weight will be fat. Especially in the early stages of the program, much of the weight may be water.
However, if you want to improve fitness, burn stubborn body fat, and build lean muscles, you won’t be able to do all that without working out. For these goals you should choose the Extreme Fat Loss Diet of Joel Marion. This is the harder plan of the two, but it may prove to be the better one overall.
Fat Loss 4 Idiots and the Xtreme Fat Loss Diet may seem similar but they’re not anything alike. They work differently, and provide different goals. You need to think about what you want to achieve with your fitness and nutrition plan. Then, choose the program which best meets those goals. This is what you need to choose.
