A while ago I wrote an article about people who keep you fat in which I discussed types of people, common in our life, which may, unintentionally, be sabotaging your diet. What I didn’t talk about was how your spouse may be also contributing to this damage and making it difficult to lose weight.
Then, as I opened my email earlier this morning, I had a message from Amanda G. Harp, M.A, a student in the Psychology Department at Clark University who is writing a dissertation on this very topic. More precisely, she is studying the prevalence and nature of potential spousal sabotage of a diet.
Amanda asked me to spread the word about her research as she is looking for more people to include in her study. I think that this is a very interesting research topic and I’m glad to help her in any way I can. I decided to write this post to appeal to my readers to consider answering her survey and being part of this research.
If you have a little spare time and would like to help a student complete this important study,
You Can Win Prizes and Help Science Too
Amanda is also offering some prizes to show her appreciation for those of you who are willing to help her. She is offering 10 gift cards which will be raffled among the people who take part in this survey. The top gift card is $100 and the other 9 are $25 each.
She is also making a donation of $1 on the behalf of each participant to one of the 5 following charities: (Playworks, The Carter Center, Teach for America, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, or MAP International). You’ll be able to choose to which charity you want your donation to go to.
So, you may be eligible for prizes and would also be helping a worthy cause. And we may learn something new that would help people lose weight successfully.
Who Is Amanda Looking For
Amanda is looking for people who answer Yes to the following 4 questions:
- Are you at least 18 years of age?
- Have you been participating in a weight loss program for the last 5 consecutive weeks?
- Have you been in a committed, cohabitating relationship for the last two years?
- Do you ever feel like your partner/spouse gets in the way of your weight loss?
If you feel like you’re a good fit for this study, then you may win a nice gift card.
